THE COOL GIRLS CLUB
A 3-part workshop series unpacking emotional self-care for the emotionally unavailable.
Emotional self-care is the act of taking care of your emotional needs by identifying what it is you’re feeling (or avoiding feeling) and then moving forward in a way that honors yourself and those emotions.
but, let’s face it, life gets in the way – we experience heartbreak, disappointments, and trauma and commit to moving through life with numb, detached or emotionally unavailable as a way to protect ourselves.
This 3 part workshop series is designed to create a safe space and container for us to understand our feelings, to nurture our discomfort and explore ways we can honor our emotions through meditation, group discussions & activities, and journaling.
May 29th – Acceptance: This first workshop will explore the concept of self-acceptance and emotional self-care. We will discuss how to cultivate emotional self-care through the lens of self-acceptance, investigate the narratives and beliefs we hold about self-acceptance that block us from experiencing our true emotions and what self-acceptance teaches us about the emotions we’ve been avoiding.
June 6th – Accountability: How does self-accountability play a role in our emotional self-care, or better yet, what role have you been playing in being accountable for your undealt with emotions? This second workshop explores self-accountability and responsibility and what it means to take ownership of our feelings or the lack thereof. We will also explore the practice of self-forgiveness and the importance of practising forgiveness when we become accountable.
June 13th – Vulnerability: The last and final workshop entails deep diving into vulnerability and discussing performative vs authentic vulnerability, the narratives and beliefs we hold about being vulnerable and integrating the three concepts of acceptance, accountability and vulnerability to create sustainable and practical emotional self-care practices.
This event series is not just for those who identify as being emotionally unavailable, but for individuals wanting to expand their knowledge and awareness about emotional self-care and add more tools to their self-care tool box.
This event is open to all self-identifying womxn and femmes. This space is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator for those with special needs.
We would also like to acknowledge the land that this event is taking place in Vancouver on unceded Indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish),Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Bliss Your Heart is an in-person and online platform that focuses on promoting self-care, self-love and mental health through monthly workshops and events. It affirms the power of connection and conversations and strives to unpack areas of sensitivity through up-lifting and honest conversations. Bliss Your Heart intends to equip women with a better understanding of their inner world, in order to navigate their outer world.
ABOUT DORA KAMAU:
Dora Kamau is a mental health visionary, self-care advocate and the founder of Bliss Your Heart, an online and in-person women’s platform rooted in self-love, self-care and mental health. After a near death experience at birth and overcoming a serious of unfortunate events in her teenage years, Dora transmuted her shortcomings as a catalyst for growth into the multifaceted woman she is today. She has made it her life’s purpose and soul's mission to guide other women on their journey to wellness & wholeness. Whether it’s through her online presence or in-person events and workshops, she creates and holds space for women to step into their power & offers a new, refreshing perspective on life.
Aside from being a student of life, Dora also holds a BA in Psychology, with a specialization in adolescent psychology and is in her final year of completing her BSc. in Psychiatric Nursing.
